Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Joseph O'brien and Spencer Cruz Lead Hoffman Estates to Victory

Hoffman Estates entered their tilt with Streamwood on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Sabres. This was a revenge game for the Hawks: when they faced off against the Sabres back in March, they had to take a 2-1 defeat.

If you add up the scores from across all three sets (61-59) Hoffman Estates actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-22, 16-14.

Leading Hoffman Estates to victory were Spencer Cruz and Joseph O'Brien. Cruz had ten digs and two aces, while O'Brien had six digs.

Despite the loss, Streamwood still got an impressive performance from Heewon Yang, who had 17 digs and one assist. With that strong performance, Yang is now averaging an impressive 10.8 digs per game. Luis Antunez also deserves some recognition as he had his first kill of the season.

Hoffman Estates' win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Streamwood, they dropped their record down to 5-6 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.
