Basketball Recap: South Central Calhoun Comes Up Short

After flying high against Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto/Charter Oak-Ute last Saturday, South Central Calhoun came back down to earth. The South Central Calhoun Titans took a 53-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Odebolt Arthur Battle Creek Ida Grove Falcons. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

South Central Calhoun's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Odebolt Arthur Battle Creek Ida Grove, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

South Central Calhoun and Odebolt Arthur Battle Creek Ida Grove should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Iowa Rankings. South Central Calhoun (ranked 156th) will meet Storm Lake St. Mary (ranked 337th) at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Odebolt Arthur Battle Creek Ida Grove will face off against Lawton-Bronson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday up 139 places (80 vs. 219).
