Alleluia Community had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the Augusta Prep Cavaliers with a sharp 3-0 win on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Angels sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row dating back to last season.
Alleluia Community was especially dominant in the second set. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-10, 25-16.
Lucy Krementz paced Alleluia Community's offense, picking up 12 kills. Krementz got some help from Reese Janik and her 22 assists. Janik also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Madie French, racking up three apiece.
Alleluia Community didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Academy of Richmond County on the 12th. As for Augusta Prep, they will face off against Gatewood at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Cavaliers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
