Softball Preview: North Central Wolfpack vs. West Valley Eagles
The North Central Wolfpack will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the West Valley Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 26 consecutive losses dating back to last season for North Central and six for West Valley dating back to last season.
North Central lost 37-1 to East Valley on Saturday.
North Central saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Micaela Mendez, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Mendez brought in this season. Another was Emilie Kellar, who scored a run and stole two bases.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when West Valley and Deer Park meet (six straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. West Valley came up short against Deer Park, falling 12-2.
West Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for North Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
North Central might still be hurting after the 25-2 loss they got from West Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2021. Can North Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
