Preview: Caledonia-Mumford Raiders vs. Pavilion Golden Gophers
The Caledonia-Mumford Raiders will head out on the road to challenge the Pavilion Golden Gophers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Caledonia-Mumford has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 11.
Last Tuesday, Caledonia-Mumford was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 46-41 to Letchworth.
Despite the defeat, Caledonia-Mumford had strong showings from Nathan Doll, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, and Donny Peet, who scored 14 points along with two steals. That was a full 36.6% of Caledonia-Mumford's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Caledonia-Mumford struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Pavilion has not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They came out on top against Perry by a score of 56-48 on Friday.
Caledonia-Mumford dropped their record down to 4-14 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.2 points per game. As for Pavilion, their victory bumped their record up to 4-8.
Caledonia-Mumford came up short against Pavilion in their previous meeting back in January, falling 66-54. Can Caledonia-Mumford avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
