Baseball Recap: Bearden Comes Up Short

If Bearden was riding high fresh off their 7-1 takedown of Hermitage on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Bearden fell just short of Bradley by a score of 6-5 on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Bradley this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-3 back in March.

Landon Faucett put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 14 over 5.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bearden is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-8 otherwise. Faucett was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Matthew Chambers and A'Tayvien Moore stepped up to the plate in a big way. Chambers went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Moore went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Colin Weatherly also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Bearden has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Bradley, they pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Bearden will venture away from home to take on Drew Central at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bradley, they will head out on the road to challenge Nevada at 4:30 a.m. on Thursday. The Blue Jays have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12 runs per game on average), something the Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of.
