The San Marcos Academy Bears were the 51-42 winner over the First Baptist Academy Eagles when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. San Marcos Academy was the victim of a rough 65-42 loss at the hands of First Baptist Academy on Monday. San Marcos Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
First Baptist Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Timothy De La Rosa led the charge by scoring 23 points. The contest was De La Rosa's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Deatrick Casablanca, who scored 16 points.
San Marcos Academy has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for First Baptist Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Marcos Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Giddings Lonestar Southeast at 6:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024. First Baptist Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Austin Waldorf at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th. Austin Waldorf is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
