After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Union Grove, McLeod was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 27-26 win over the Hawkins Hawks. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Longhorns have posted since November 8, 2024.

McLeod has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-15 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.2 points on average over those games. As for Hawkins, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-11.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. McLeod will square off against rival Harleton at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Hawkins is set to challenge their familiar foe Union Grove at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
