Basketball Recap: Phillips Comes Up Short

Fans were treated to a battle of the Wildcats on Saturday. Phillips fell 61-54 to Thornton. Phillips just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.

Thornton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but DeAndre Higgs led the charge by dropping a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Those 24 points gave Higgs a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kobe Stevenson, who went 6-for-11 en route to 12 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Phillips' defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Thornton, their record now sits at 3-6.

Phillips and St. Rita will round out the year against one another at 9:00 a.m. on Monday. As for Thornton, they will square off against Unity Christian Academy at 9:00 a.m. on Monday.
