Softball Recap: Borah Takes a Loss

The matchup between Borah and Rocky Mountain on Friday hardly resembled the 3-1 effort from their previous meeting. The Borah Lions came up short against the Rocky Mountain Grizzlies, falling 20-6. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Grizzlies apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Anna Hedt led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits. The team also got some help courtesy of Genevieve Rainville, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Hedt wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Borah lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs every time they've taken the field this season.

Borah's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Rocky Mountain, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-2.

Looking ahead, Borah will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Kuna at 11:00 a.m. As for Rocky Mountain, they will face off against Capital at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Capital will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Rocky Mountain surely won't give up without a fight.
