Preview: Mills University Studies Comets vs. Robinson Senators
Mills University Studies is 0-4 against Robinson since August of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Mills University Studies Comets will head out on the road to face off against the Robinson Senators at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Two weeks ago, Mills University Studies narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Pine Bluff 24-21.
Achillies Ringo got back to being his usual excellent self, as he threw for 214 yards and a touchdown. Mills University Studies also got a significant boost from Rodney Jackson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 81 yards.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Pine Bluff to a paltry 245 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Mills University Studies' ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out six times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Charlie Collins and his four sacks.
Meanwhile, Robinson had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They strolled past Beebe with points to spare, taking the game 43-27.
Among those leading the charge was Nick Abrams, who rushed for 86 yards and three touchdowns, and also caught a touchdown. Quentin Murphy jr. was another key contributor, throwing for 36 yards and a touchdown.
Mills University Studies has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in six of their first seven matches, giving them a 6-1 record. As for Robinson, their win was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 7-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday' match: Mills University Studies has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 338 passing yards per game. It's a different story for Robinson, though, as they've been averaging only 58.4 per game. How will Robinson fare against such a dominant passing game?
Mills University Studies and Robinson were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, but Mills University Studies came up empty-handed after a 29-28 loss. Can Mills University Studies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
