Softball Recap: Six Straight Home Victories for Tri

Tri made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Wapahani, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Titans blew past the Raiders 10-0 on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won five games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Wapahani's batters probably weren't too happy with Ashton Richey, who pitched a no hitter and racked up ten Ks. Richey has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tri let Rylan Mathews and Lyla Williams run wild. Mathews went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Williams went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith McCrobie, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Tri kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matches.

Tri pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 12.8 runs this season. As for Wapahani, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tri will take on Northeastern at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season. As for Wapahani, they will square off against Eastern Hancock at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
