Basketball Preview: Central Falls Warriors vs. North Smithfield Northmen
The Central Falls Warriors will be playing at home against the North Smithfield Northmen at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Rhode Island (Central Falls is ranked 28th, while the Northmen are ranked 17th).
Central Falls unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They received a tough blow as they fell 57-42 to Lincoln. Central Falls has not had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
North Smithfield was handed a 28-point loss in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against the Cougars on Wednesday. North Smithfield sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 40-37 victory over the Cougars. The win was just what North Smithfield needed coming off of a 47-19 loss in their prior contest.
Bryson Murray had a dynamite game for North Smithfield, scoring 16 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Zonin, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Central Falls' defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for North Smithfield, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Things could have been worse for Central Falls, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-39 loss to the Northmen when the teams last played back in February of 2022.
