Preview: Riverside Beavers vs. Archbishop Hoban Knights
Riverside has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Archbishop Hoban Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Riverside will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Riverside had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 42-30 win over Twinsburg.
Mikey Maloney had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 204 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also threw for 241 yards and three touchdowns. Jason Mackey was another key contributor, gaining 123 total yards and three touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Riverside's defense and their five sacks. Leading the way was Dom Kirks and his three sacks.
Meanwhile, Archbishop Hoban stacked a eighth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Barberton 41-7 at home. With Archbishop Hoban ahead 20-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Riverside pushed their record up to 10-2 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.5 points per game. As for Archbishop Hoban, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-1.
