Recap: New Dimensions vs. Odyssey Charter School Titans
Winning is just a little bit easier when you make seven more threes than your opponent, a fact New Dimensions proved on Monday. They blew past Odyssey Charter School 83-42 on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 51-18.
New Dimensions' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jeriel Martinez led the charge by scoring 30 points along with nine rebounds and seven steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Martinez has scored at least 25% of New Dimensions' points. Jeremiah Carrasquillo was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten assists.
Despite the loss, Odyssey Charter School saw an underclassman step up: Malik Brown dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jamale Long, who scored nine points.
The win makes it two in a row for New Dimensions and bumps their season record up to 2-1. As for Odyssey Charter School, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Dimensions will square off against Vanguard at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Vanguard will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 744th, while New Dimensions is ranked 338th). Odyssey Charter School won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Melbourne Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on December 5th. Melbourne Central Catholic is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
