Softball Recap: Oakdale Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Oakdale came into Thursday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the East Union Lancers on Thursday by a score of 3-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Mustangs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lancers, too.

Jaelyn Lee (UOP) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Oakdale's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Madi Bohannon (Cal Poly), who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Oakdale's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for East Union, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Oakdale will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Manteca at 4:00 p.m. Oakdale's pitchers better be ready for this one: Manteca has averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for East Union, they are taking a road trip to challenge Ripon at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Ripon will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something East Union surely won't give up without a fight.
