Baseball Game Preview: University School Preppers vs. Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Royals

The University School Preppers will take on the Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Royals at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (University School 2.9, Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

University School is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They came out on top against Padua Franciscan by a score of 9-5. The victory was familiar territory for the Preppers, who have now won four matches in a row.

Slater Schoaf looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, University School got a massive performance out of Tucker Greer, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That's the most hits Greer has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Deacon Nelson, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

University School lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Wednesday Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy sidestepped Wooster for a 4-3 win.

Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was John Baker, who went 1-for-3 with one run. That hit marked the first that Baker has got this season.

Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for University School, their victory bumped their record up to 27-6.

University School took their win against Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2022 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Do the Preppers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Royals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
