Softball Recap: Genoa Central Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

Genoa Central had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Centerpoint Knights. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Emily McGuire made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Brooklyn Cox was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Brenley Ward was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Genoa Central hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive contests.

Genoa Central's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Centerpoint, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.
