Basketball Recap: Centennial Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Centennial had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the Carlsbad Cavemen/Cavegirls by a score of 43-33 on Saturday. The Hawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cavemen/Cavegirls, too.

Among those leading the charge was Joy Hunt, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 13 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Avellana Vigil-Villalobos, who posted eight points.

Centennial smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Centennial's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-10. As for Carlsbad, with the loss, they broke their nine-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-3.

Centennial will venture away from home to challenge Silver at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Carlsbad, they will host Lovington at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lovington will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Carlsbad surely won't give up without a fight.
