Baseball Recap: Chaparral Snags Fifth Win in Last Six Games

Chaparral won the last time they faced Desert Mountain and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Firebirds came out on top against the Wolves by a score of 11-8. With that victory, the Firebirds brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Brock Little and Camden Evans dominated on the mound. Little pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit, while Evans tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Little posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bo Shuba, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Reece Solar was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Chaparral kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.

Chaparral has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Desert Mountain, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-12.

Coming up, Chaparral will head out on the road to take on Notre Dame Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Desert Mountain, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 7-3 defeat against Willow Canyon on the 10th.
