Baseball Game Preview: Standley Lake Gators vs. Dakota Ridge Eagles

The Standley Lake Gators are taking a road trip to take on the Dakota Ridge Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Standley Lake's last matchup with Evergreen could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Friday. The Gators came up short against the Cougars, falling 10-2. The Gators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Dakota Ridge waltzed into their game on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Jaguars as they made off with an 11-1 win.

The team relied heavily on Jackson Barrett, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Dakota Ridge is 4-1 when Barrett posts two or more stolen bases, but 5-9 otherwise. Daniel Medina also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Dakota Ridge pushed their record up to 9-10 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Standley Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

Standley Lake couldn't quite get it done against Dakota Ridge in their previous matchup back in April as they fell 11-6. Can the Gators avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
