Basketball Recap: Midlothian Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Midlothian, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 58-56 victory over the Kaufman Lions on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 45-39 back in December of 2024.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tia Morrow, who posted 16 points and three steals. Morrow has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Kaylee Wrenn was another key player, going 5 for 10 en route to 15 points along with six assists and six boards.

Midlothian is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-12 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.6 points per game. As for Kaufman, they dropped their record down to 19-7 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Midlothian Panthers duke it out with the Ennis Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kaufman, they will be playing at home against Red Oak at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Red Oak will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Kaufman surely won't give up without a fight.
