Basketball Game Preview: Shawnee Indians vs. Lima Senior Spartans

The Shawnee Indians will head out on the road to square off against the Lima Senior Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

Last Thursday, Shawnee didn't have quite enough to beat Defiance and fell 45-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Indians have suffered against the Bulldogs since December 3, 2015.

Meanwhile, Lima Senior came tearing into Wednesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 52-45 victory over the Rams. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while the Rams are ranked 439th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lima Senior has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Shawnee, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Shawnee didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Lima Senior in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 61-57 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Shawnee since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
