Preview: Brighton Bengals vs. Mount Olive Christian

Brighton has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against Mount Olive Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Brighton struggled with offensive rebounds back in November (NELA Christian Homeschool had 3600% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Brighton was outmatched by NELA Christian Homeschool at home and fell 77-23.

Despite the defeat, Brighton saw an underclassman step up: Sophie Caruso scored 20 points. Caruso scored a full 87% of Brighton's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Meanwhile, Mount Olive Christian was the victim of a rough 52-29 loss at the hands of NELA Christian Homeschool on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Mount Olive Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while NELA Christian Homeschool is ranked 73rd).

Despite their loss, Mount Olive Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Abbigail Rodgers, who scored 8 points, was perhaps the best of all. Rodgers scored a full 27.6% of Mount Olive Christian's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

John Paul the Great Academy's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Brighton's loss dropped theirs to 1-2.
