Basketball Recap: Jefferson's Loss Ends 13-Game Winning Streak on the Road

After a string of seven wins, Jefferson's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 46-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ennis Mustangs. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 55-52 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Jefferson lost, don't look at Ryian Eveland. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards. Eveland has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Cameron Toney, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 12 points and eight rebounds.

Jefferson's loss ended a 13-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 12-3. As for Ennis, the victory (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 17-1.

Jefferson and Ennis should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Montana Rankings. Jefferson will take on Whitehall/Harrison/Willow Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday up 78 places (22 vs. 100). Jefferson is looking to tack on another W to their 13-game streak on the road dating back to last season. Similarly, Ennis (ranked seventh) will meet Lone Peak (ranked 151st) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Jefferson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.7 points per game this season.
