            Softball Recap: Summit Spartans vs. Independence Eagles        
        
		
        
        
            After flying high against Centennial  last Thursday, Summit came back down to earth. The Spartans lost  19-11 to the Independence Eagles on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  2-1  back in March.
  Audrey Cathey stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-4 with two  triples, three  RBI,  and two  runs.  Samantha Malcolm was another key player,  going 3-for-4 with three  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  double.
Summit's loss dropped their record down to 18-12. As for Independence, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-14 record  this season.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Summit will head out to  challenge Franklin  at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The Spartans are facing the Admirals at the right time seeing as the Admirals are stuck on  a  three-game losing streak. As for Independence, they will head out on the road to  square off against  Centennial  at 4:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.8  runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
