Basketball Recap: Alcoa Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Alcoa entered their tilt with Knoxville Catholic on Saturday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They strolled past the Knoxville Catholic Fighting Irish with points to spare, taking the game 68-49. The Tornadoes have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Fighting Irish, too.

Knoxville Catholic's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Amaya Redd, who went 8 for 20 on her way to 22 points and eight rebounds, and Maggie Frana, who posted 11 points and five rebounds. Redd's morning made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Khloe Cook, who had five points.

Alcoa is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Knoxville Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

Alcoa will be taking part in a tournament against Booker at 3:35 p.m. on Friday. Booker knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Alcoa likes a good challenge. As for Knoxville Catholic, they will take on North Greene in a tournament on Thursday.
