Football Game Preview: Chaminade Eagles vs. Loyola Cubs + How To Watch

The Chaminade Eagles will take on the Loyola Cubs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chaminade will be strutting in after a victory while Loyola will be coming in after a loss.

Chaminade hadn't beaten Serra on the road since November 1, 2019 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Eagles walked away with a 37-27 win over the Cavaliers.

A big part of Chaminade's victory came down to the chemistry between Jeremy Mellalieu and his top target Andrew Cordero. Mellalieu threw for 180 yards and one touchdown while completing 81.8% of his passes while Cordero gained 119 total yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance also gave Mellalieu a new career-high in passer rating (152.7). Cameron Blackman handled things on the ground, rushing for 88 yards.

Chaminade was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 244 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Meanwhile, Loyola ended up a good deal behind Bishop Amat on Friday and lost 30-14. Despite 117 more yards than the Lancers, the Cubs couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Loyola's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Chaminade, the win also got them back to even at 4-4.

Chaminade was dealt a bruising 44-10 loss at the hands of Loyola when the teams last played back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Eagles were down 23-0.
