Football Recap: St. Lucy's Comes Up Short

St. Lucy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 59-12 loss at the hands of the South Hills Huskies. While losing is never fun, the Regents can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 285th, while the Huskies are ranked 82nd).

St. Lucy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adrienne Ortiz, who picked up 140 receiving yards and one TD. Ortiz also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making three total tackles and defending one pass. Emma Ramirez was another key signal caller, throwing for 165 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

St. Lucy's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for South Hills, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.

St. Lucy's has already played their next match, a 35-19 defeat against La Serna on the 26th. As for South Hills, they will face off against Canyon at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Huskies 11, the Comanches 4.3) so any points scored will be well earned.
