Baseball Recap: Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington Comes Up Short

Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping their season record down to 1-12 in the process. They came up short against the Manchester Greyhounds, falling 17-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Greyhounds this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-3 two weeks ago.

As for Manchester, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-4. The result was nothing new for the Greyhounds, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For Manchester's part, the team relied heavily on Leland Horner, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with six RBI, one run, and one double. Those six RBI gave Horner a new career-high. Luke Applegate was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Manchester, they will be taking part in a tournament against Eastern at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Greyhounds' favor as the team sits on eight straight wins at home while the Eagles have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
