Softball Game Preview: Lawrence Academy Warriors vs. Faith Christian Patriots

Lawrence Academy is a perfect 3-0 against Faith Christian since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Warriors are taking a road trip to take on the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. Lawrence Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.6 runs per game this season.

Lawrence Academy took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Pamlico County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Warriors narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Hurricanes 5-3.

Clair Ferebee spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Lawrence Academy's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Caroline Halstead, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Faith Christian started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Wayne Christian. They fell 7-4 to the Eagles on Thursday.

Faith Christian also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Peyton Hagans gave up four earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits. Hagans has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Faith Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Lawrence Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 15-5.

Lawrence Academy skirted past Faith Christian 10-9 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
