Softball Recap: Lee Williams Takes a Loss

Lee Williams extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 5-9. They came up short against the Flagstaff Eagles, falling 14-2. If the Volunteers were looking for revenge after losing 18-2 to the Eagles when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Lee Williams saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooke Bills (2027), who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for Flagstaff, they pushed their record up to 16-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

On Flagstaff's side, Mia Garcia made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Garcia has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lucy Lanssens was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Mayla Speer was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.

While Lee Williams had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
