Baseball Game Preview: Durant Lions vs. Pryor Tigers

Durant is 1-9 against Pryor since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Durant Lions challenge Pryor Tigers at 5:00 p.m.

On Tuesday, Durant came up short against Pryor and fell 10-7. The loss was the Lions' first of the season.

Holdan Robinson was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with one home run and three runs.

In other pitching news, Durant got a good showing from Jackson Williams, who kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. What's more, Williams gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

Back at the plate, Ryder Jones was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Colton Poore was another key player, going 1-for-6 with one home run and two RBI.

Even though they lost, Durant kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits every time they've taken the field this season.

The victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Durant, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
