Recap: Hudson Cobras vs. Hernando Leopards
The Hudson Cobras's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 72-55 to Hernando. Hudson has not had much luck with Hernando recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Hudson had strong showings from Jowell Andujar, who scored 18 points, and Tejacion Chapman, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Andujar has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Huggan, who scored eight points.
Even though they lost, Hudson were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Hernando's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aaron Laskey, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Laskey also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Wright, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Hudson bumped their record down to 3-9 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Hernando, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hudson will face off against Dunedin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Dunedin is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Hernando, they will head out on the road to square off against Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Hernando likes a good challenge.
