Baseball Game Preview: Polk County Wolverines vs. Chase Trojans

The Polk County Wolverines will face off against the Chase Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Polk County is headed into the match having just posted their closest win since March 19th on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Patton 6-5. The victory continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

Gunnar Alm was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Avrey Hensley was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Chase beat Hickory 5-1 on Wednesday.

Chase is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Polk County, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 8-10.

Everything went Polk County's way against Chase in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Polk County made off with an 11-2 win. Do the Wolverines have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
