Football Recap: Rockhurst Starts Season with Victory Against St. Pius X

Rockhurst had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the St. Pius X Warriors 49-19 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Hawklets also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

Cash Lewandowski went supernova, rushing for 146 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.1 yards per carry, and also picking up 34 receiving yards. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making seven total tackles. Ben Hayes made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Rockhurst was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 214 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Coming up, Rockhurst will be playing at home against Raymore-Peculiar at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Pius X, they are headed away from home for the first time to face off against Catholic at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
