Volleyball Recap: Crescent City Raiders vs. Clay Blue Devils
Crescent City was the 2-1 winner over Clay when they last played one another back in August of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Raiders fell 2-0 to the Blue Devils on Saturday. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
While Crescent City had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 20 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-21.
Logan Bornstein paced Crescent City's offense, picking up four kills. Bornstein also shared the team's lead in assists with Gracie Roberson: they picked up three each. Roberson was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.
Shiloh Marshall-Simmons was the offensive standout of the contest as she had 13 digs and three assists. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 13 or more in each of the last seven games she's played.
Crescent City's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Clay, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-10.
Coincidentally, Crescent City and Clay will both be playing Newberry the next time they take the court. The Blue Devils will head out to face the Panthers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Raiders will play them later in the day, at 11:00 a.m.
