Baseball Recap: Croatan Takes a Loss

Croatan extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 8-13 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Dixon Bulldogs. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 11-2.

Croatan saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Easton Taylor, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

As for Dixon, they pushed their record up to 12-11 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.

On Dixon's side, Chris Tesgle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up seven Ks. Tesgle has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances.

As of now, neither Croatan nor Dixon have any future games scheduled.
