            Baseball Recap: Vanden Vikings vs. Wood Wildcats        
        
		
        
        
            It may have taken  eight innings to finish the job, but Vanden ultimately got the result they hoped for  on Tuesday. They won by a  run and slipped past the Wood Wildcats  7-6. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive  win against them.

 Mariano Gonzalez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he  struck out eight batters over  four innings while giving up  three earned runs off   three  hits. That's the most  strikeouts  he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box,  going 3-for-5 with one  stolen base and one  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Kekoa Grinton was  incredible,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was  Jackson Armstrong, who  scored a  run and  stole two bases while  getting on base  in all four of his plate appearances.
 Vanden was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wood only posted a  batting average of  .148.
Vanden's victory bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Wood,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 7-11.
Vanden will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled  at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
