Basketball Recap: Laurel's loss ends three-game winning streak at home

Basketball Recap: Laurel Gators vs. Cathedral Prep Ramblers

It was a good run, but the Laurel Gators unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 61-43 bruising from Cathedral Prep.

Despite the defeat, Laurel saw an underclassman step up: Saniyah Hall dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds. Hall has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last ten times she's played. Nyla Edwards was another key contributor, scoring six points.

Laurel's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-10. As for Cathedral Prep, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Laurel will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on February 21st. As for Cathedral Prep, they will be playing at home against the Trojans at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. McDowell will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 326th, while the Ramblers are ranked 12th).
