Recap: Northeast Bearcats vs. South Shelby Cardinals
The Northeast Bearcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 67-57 to South Shelby. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Northeast in their matchups with South Shelby: they've now lost seven in a row.
Leading South Shelby to victory were Kamryn Mitchell and Belle Roush. Mitchell scored 19 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Roush dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Mitchell scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Callie Mcwilliams, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Northeast's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for South Shelby, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northeast on the road again on Thursday and play against Helias at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th. As for South Shelby, they will take on Macon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Macon comes in on four and South Shelby on three.
