Preview: College Station Cougars vs. Lake Creek Lions
The College Station Cougars will be playing at home against the Lake Creek Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. College Station is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
On Tuesday, College Station came up short against Brenham and fell 41-34.
Meanwhile, Lake Creek had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against Rudder by a score of 60-53. Given Lake Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 188th, while Rudder is ranked 620th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lake Creek got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aedan Lewis out in front who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jett Sutton, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
College Station has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 18-9 record this season. As for Lake Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 24-8 record this season.
College Station lost to Lake Creek at home by a decisive 63-46 margin when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lewis, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds.
