Baseball Recap: Monte Vista Comes Up Short

Monte Vista managed to slip by Otay Ranch the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Monarchs came up short against the Mustangs on Thursday, falling 13-3. The Monarchs just can't catch a break and have now endured five defeats in a row.

Monte Vista saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Orlando Rupley, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Reuben Cabugwas also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Monte Vista's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Otay Ranch, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-4.

Looking ahead, Monte Vista will square off against Mater Dei Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Otay Ranch, they will venture away from home to challenge Olympian at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
