Preview: Orem Tigers vs. Foothill Falcons
The Orem Tigers and the Foothill Falcons will face off at 10:30 a.m. on December 21st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Orem's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Salem Hills by a score of 63-61. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Tuesday (60), Orem still had to take the loss.
Despite their loss, Orem saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Asher Young, who scored 16 points, was perhaps the best of all. The game was Young's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kai Wesley, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Foothill faced Mater Academy East Las Vegas in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Foothill took down Mater Academy East Las Vegas 68-53 on Wednesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for Foothill as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Orem's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Foothill, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Orem skirted past Foothill 67-65 when the teams last played back in December of 2015. The rematch might be a little tougher for Orem since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
