Basketball Recap: Tristan Peterson and Jamie Dance Secure Win for Currituck County

There's no place like home for Currituck County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pasquotank County Panthers on Friday, sneaking past 72-70. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 71-57 back in January.

Currituck County was led to victory by Jamie Dance and Tristan Peterson. Dance dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds, while Peterson went 5 for 10 en route to 18 points along with five boards and three steals. Dance's evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Ian Brown, who posted nine points and five rebounds.

Currituck County was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pasquotank County only posted seven assists.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jamari Seymore, who went 8 of 16 on his way to 23 points. Seymore is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last three games he's played. Branden Smith was another key player, going 5 for 10 to rack up 16 points and six boards.

Currituck County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.0 points over those games. As for Pasquotank County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-11.

Currituck County and Pasquotank County could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Currituck County (ranked 306th) will meet Northeastern (ranked 74th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Pasquotank County will take on First Flight at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 218 places (339 vs. 121).
