Baseball Recap: Oxford Comes Up Short

Oxford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Adams Highlanders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Highlanders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 on Monday.

Oxford got a good showing from Kellen Socha, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Socha has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jack Hendrix made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Drew Cady also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Oxford's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Adams, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

While Oxford had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
