Two dominant backs in Vudrico Roberson and Daylon Cobb are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Haltom Buffalos will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Martin Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Haltom put up the most points they have all season on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 61-20 win over Grand Prairie. With the Buffalos ahead 35-13 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Roberson and Xavier Clinton. Roberson had a great game and gained 291 total yards and seven touchdowns. Meanwhile, Clinton was balling out in the loss, rushing for 125 yards and one score, while also catching one TD.

Haltom didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Keyan Parks and Demian Ramirez Lopez. Parks also made four total tackles, which is notable because Haltom is 2-1 when he posts at least four total tackles, but 0-3 otherwise. The Buffalos got some further help from Logan Lange: he forced one fumble and made 12 total tackles.
Meanwhile, Martin came up short against Bowie on Thursday and fell 56-43. While the Warriors didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Volunteers 14-7 in the first quarter.
Haltom will have to contain Javian Jones-Priest as he made an impact in Martin's last game. He rushed for 52 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
The victory made it two in a row for Haltom and bumps their season record up to 2-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.5 points over those games. As for Martin, they dropped their record down to 2-4 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Haltom has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 287.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Martin struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 212.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Haltom was able to grind out a solid victory over Martin when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 56-49. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Jones-Priest, who rushed for 116 yards and a pair of scores on only nine carries. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Buffalos still be able to contain Jones-Priest? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
