Basketball Recap: Skyview Wins Going Away Against Wellington

Skyview's tournament run continued when they took on Wellington on Friday. The Skyview Wolverines enjoyed a cozy 48-34 win over the Wellington Eagles.

Skyview found their leader in sophomore Gabriel Guevara, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 steals. Those 13 points gave Guevara a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenneth Sanchez, who posted eight points and four steals.

Skyview was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wellington only posted seven assists.

Despite the defeat, Wellington saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Nathan Blehm put up 11 points and five rebounds. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for Blehm.

Skyview now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Wellington, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Skyview didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 44-37 victory against Englewood on the 14th. As for Wellington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 66-38 defeat against Pueblo East on the 14th.
