Basketball Recap: Mya Turman Key Part of Team Effort in Hawks Win

Hay Springs won against Hyannis on Thursday with 41 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Hay Springs Hawks snuck past the Crawford Rams with a 41-36 win. This was a revenge game for the Hawks: when they faced off against the Rams last Thursday, they had to take a 30-25 loss.

Hay Springs' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mya Turman, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds. What's more, Turman also posted a 55% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Devyn Young, who posted 11 points and seven boards.

Hay Springs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 19 consecutive matchups.

Despite the loss, Crawford still got an impressive performance from Tianna Clark, who had 11 points and three steals.

Hay Springs' win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-11. As for Crawford, they moved to 12-10 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Hay Springs will square off against Shelton at 6:00 p.m. on February 28th. Shelton will roll in looking for their 25th straight victory, something Hay Springs surely won't give up without a fight. Crawford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
