Baseball Game Preview: Mayfair Monsoons vs. Firebaugh Falcons

For the second straight game, Mayfair will face off against Firebaugh. The Monsoons will host the Falcons at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Mayfair is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Mayfair had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 23-run drubbing they dealt Firebaugh on Wednesday. The Monsoons were the clear victors by a 28-5 margin over the Falcons. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 25, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Mayfair got a massive performance out of Nolan Fox, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. Those two triples gave Fox a new career-high. Erik Salcedo was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.

Mayfair always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .653. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Firebaugh's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Mayfair, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6.
